Follow these links to sites that actually review movies, and with alarming
critical acuity:
Scott Tobias
He was slightly cooler when he carried a pocket-watch, but otherwise
he's never been a better film critic than he is today, cultivating a style of his own that's amusing, efficient, and hopefully
severely influential; you're an idiot not to follow his guidance.
Mike D'Angelo
The grandaddy of web film geeks: the instigator, the inspiration,
the wild success, but most of all -- the good writer.
Travis Hoover
A fine Canadian writer and thinker whose highly intellectual prose
is freakishly persuasive even if you disagree with him. His passion for cinema is never in doubt.
Leads the band of alterna-crickets at Slant Magazine; you can always
count on Gonzalez for a fresh and unique take on unexpected films.
Sean Burns
One of the hippest and funniest film critics I know; he writes for
the Philly Weekly but I'd take him over anyone at the N.Y. or L.A. Times every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Theo Panayides
I've tried understanding where he gets his crazy ideas from, and
why he has so much intuitive knowledge, but it's all Greek to me.
Not only does he have sharp taste in films, but check out his musings
on music as well -- rock on, Antoine.
Most of us call ourselves cinephiles if we see five movies a week;
Jeremy is slacking if only sees five movies a day.
He's the crazy lunatic you love to hate.
Fearless and peerless. He even convinced me to see The
Lizzie McGuire Movie, and I liked it! (Brainwashing still evident)
Milk Plus (a weblog)
Here's the weblog to which I often contribute, along with a few
other buddies who are equally analytical, thorough, and wise in choices. And you can't complain about a Clockwork
Orange-inspired title, either.
